Brett was an amazing child!!! There was not a day that didn't go by that he did not come up to me and I LOVE YOU MOM...How I miss hearing those words. Waking up in the mornings was not for the faint hearted as the music coming from his room was enough to make you sit up straight. He loved Afrikaans music. The silence is deafening. He could cook up a storm in the kitchen and had the green fingers for gardening as well. From an early age he use to take care of his sister in the afternoons after school, the two of them were like two peas in a pod.
Brett had an impact on everyone's lives that he touch with his big brown eyes and smile that could melt hearts.
Brett was killed in an accident on his way home from school on 27 August 2007, 2 months before his 14th birthday. The day of the accident will remain with me forever. Seeing my son lying in the middle of the road and not being able to hold him will stay with me, no one would let me near him!!
